Our overnight gave us lots of opportunity to interact with them, but even if you don’t stay overnight, you can take a wagon ride out and feed them. The boys loved it! Wagon Ride and Camel Feeding at the North Georgia Zoo Zoo’s Parakeet Landing were all over us, sometimes 6 or 7 at a time. Perhaps it was the day we went, or maybe it’s like this all the time, but unlike the Parakeet Adventure at the Atlanta Zoo, the birds in North Ga. My son, and several of the scouts LOVED parakeet landing. Parakeet Landing at the North Georgia Zoo In the morning I enjoyed having the zoos near me, and the kids enjoyed playing in the field, and saying good morning to the camels, as well as plenty of other animals. The Great Pyrenees dogs that protect the animals at night did a good job of protecting us as well (at times a little too good). It was more like hanging out with a cool aunt than an overly structured program too. We went on a guided flashlight wildlife walk hike through the zoo, met several of the animals close up, and howled with the wolves. Breakfast of cereals, fruit, and other treats were provided for us in the morning. We pitched our tents next to the owner’s house, and had a covered picnic area to make and eat our dinner. Our scout troop spent the night at one of the most unique zoos in Georgia.
Overnight Adventures at the North Georgia Zoo You won’t be able to pet all the animals, and I’d watch out for the llamas, they can spit, but the camel’s nose was soft, the parakeets landed all over us, and the wolves, surprisingly docile puppies.
